Over 1 million Americans missed $1,400 stimulus payments

Many Americans may still be able to claim a $1,400 stimulus payment. The IRS announced that over 1 million people did not claim this money, which totals about $2.4 billion. The payments are for eligible individuals who missed the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax return. This includes those who left the credit blank or reported it as $0. If you haven't filed your 2021 tax return yet, you can still apply for the payment. You must file a return and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit to qualify. People who did not file must still submit a tax return, even if they earned little or no income. The deadline to apply for this payment is April 15, 2025.
