Over 20 houses destroyed by fire in Anantnag
A large fire broke out in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, destroying over 20 houses. The incident occurred in the Gajinag area of Kadipora on Thursday. Gas cylinders exploded, which helped the fire spread rapidly through the crowded neighborhood. Around three dozen families are now homeless due to the blaze. Officials reported that the fire was brought under control after several hours of firefighting efforts, supported by local residents and police. Thankfully, timely evacuations prevented any injuries or fatalities. Tehsildar Anantnag, Sajad Ahmad Wani, confirmed that 22 houses were destroyed and 37 families have lost their homes. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, stated that relief and rehabilitation efforts are in progress to assist those affected. He expressed solidarity with the victims during this challenging time.
