More than 3.4 million pilgrims and travelers have passed through Saudi airports in the first 18 days of Ramadan. This information comes from Matarat Holding Company, which operates 27 airports in the country. Major airports used include King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina. Ramadan began on March 1 this year and is a busy time for Umrah, a pilgrimage to Mecca, which is the holiest site in Islam. Out of the total travelers, 2.4 million were on international flights, while about 1.08 million flew domestically. There were 20,038 flights in total during this period, including 12,699 international flights. To handle the increase in passengers, Saudi airports have improved their services. King Abdulaziz Airport introduced an e-gate system with 70 gates for faster travel processing. Additionally, a "passenger without a bag" service allows travelers to complete procedures from home and send their luggage separately, making it easier for passengers.
