Over 320 million calls made in Mecca, Medina
During the first half of Ramadan, more than 320 million phone calls were made in the Saudi cities of Mecca and Medina. This information comes from a report by the Saudi Communications, Space and Technology Commission. In Mecca, there were 184 million local calls and 21 million international calls. Medina saw 107 million local calls and 10 million international calls. These high numbers indicate that communication networks are effectively supporting the large number of pilgrims and visitors. The report also showed a significant increase in daily data consumption. In Mecca, the average person used 1,190 megabytes of data each day. In Medina, this figure was even higher, reaching 1,495 megabytes. Mobile Internet speeds supported this demand, with Mecca at 210 megabits per second and Medina at 278 megabits per second. Ramadan is a busy time for the Umrah pilgrimage, especially in the last ten days of the month. Many Muslims from around the world travel to Mecca and Medina to worship and pray in these important religious sites. The month is expected to end on March 29.
