Over 39000 residents evacuated as Kanlaon Volcano shows increased activity
Over 39,000 residents have been evacuated from the area around Kanlaon Volcano due to increased volcanic activity. The Office of Civil Defense reported that 39,258 people, or nearly 10,000 families, have left their homes. Authorities aim to evacuate a total of 84,549 people from the six-kilometer danger zone. Currently, 46% of that target has been reached, with evacuees now in shelters. Following an explosive eruption on Monday, the volcano's alert level was raised to 3, indicating intensified unrest. Residents in the danger zone have been advised to evacuate for safety.
