Over 4000 Imran Khan supporters arrested ahead of Islamabad protest
Pakistani police have arrested over 4,000 supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan ahead of a planned protest in Islamabad. The arrests include five parliamentarians, as authorities prepare for the rally demanding Khan's release from prison. Clashes occurred along the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border, with police and PTI supporters exchanging tear gas. Islamabad has been sealed off with shipping containers, and mobile data services have been suspended in certain areas to disrupt communications. PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram reported that Khan's wife is traveling to Islamabad to support party workers. The government has previously implemented similar tactics to prevent pro-Khan demonstrations, leading to public criticism.
