In Uttar Pradesh, 48,081 government schools have been recognized as meeting the NIPUN Bharat Mission standards for foundational literacy and numeracy. This assessment was conducted in two phases from December 2024 to March 2025. The schools, which include primary and composite institutions, were evaluated based on the proficiency of students in reading, writing, and arithmetic. The state’s education department plans to celebrate this achievement by recognizing school principals by March 31. The NIPUN Bharat Mission, launched in July 2021, aims for all children to achieve basic literacy and numeracy by Grade 3 by 2026-27. It includes a structured implementation plan across various educational levels.
