Over 6000 candidates fail 2024 Bar exam in the Philippines as passing score lowered

Over 6,000 candidates failed the 2024 Bar examination in the Philippines, with a pass rate of 37.84%. Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario Lopez encouraged those who did not pass to persevere and maintain their commitment to the legal profession. Lopez announced a change in the passing score from 75% to 74%, a decision made unanimously by the Court. This adjustment aimed to support more candidates in achieving their goal of becoming lawyers. He reminded successful examinees to remain humble and noted that many who initially failed have gone on to excel in subsequent attempts at the Bar exam.
