Over 750 players entered transfer portal in 2025

The men's college basketball transfer portal opened on Monday, and it saw a large influx of players. More than 750 athletes entered the portal on the first day, significantly more than last year's record of nearly 300. This year, over 1,000 names are now in the transfer portal. This total includes 226 players who were already in the portal due to coaching changes or graduate status. Last year's total at the close of the portal was around 2,100 players. The transfer window will remain open for 30 days, ending on April 22. The rankings for the top players will be updated regularly, with plans to expand the list to 100 after the Final Four. As of now, the top player in the portal is Bryce Hopkins from Providence. A senior forward, Hopkins has struggled with injuries and has not played a full season since 2022-23. However, he averaged 15.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in 14 games before his knee injury in 2023-24.
