Over 8,000 people lost power in metro Denver
More than 8,000 customers in metro Denver lost power on Tuesday night due to a storm causing high winds, rain, and snow. The severe weather hit the Front Range, leading to widespread outages. The National Weather Service reported wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph across the metro area around 9 p.m. Xcel Energy dealt with 33 outage incidents, affecting nearly 5,000 people. Areas impacted include Arvada, Lakewood, Aurora, Westminster, and Thornton. CORE Electric Cooperative also reported significant outages. About 1,811 people in Douglas County and 1,125 in Elbert County were affected. Additionally, around 400 customers in Arapahoe and Adams counties faced power loss.
