Oxfam reports billionaires' wealth grows three times faster in 2024
Oxfam International reported that billionaires' wealth grew three times faster in 2024 than in 2023, coinciding with the World Economic Forum in Davos. The group noted that billionaire wealth increased by $2 trillion, averaging $5.7 billion daily. The number of billionaires rose by 204, reaching a total of 2,769. Oxfam also predicts that at least five trillionaires will emerge in the next decade, up from a previous forecast of one. Despite the wealth increase among the elite, Oxfam stated that global poverty levels have not significantly changed since 1990. The report highlights ongoing concerns about wealth concentration among the ultra-rich.
