Pacific nations prioritize climate change over geopolitical interests

During the recent Pacific Islands Forum in Tonga, leaders from 18 nations discussed climate change amid rising geopolitical interest from the US, China, and the UK. Australia announced a A$400 million policing initiative, while concerns arose over Taiwan's diplomatic status. The Pacific Resilience Facility, aimed at climate financing, has raised US$137 million towards a US$500 million goal by 2026, highlighting ongoing development challenges in the region.
