The Philippine weather bureau PAGASA reported that a low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao has a high chance of becoming a tropical cyclone. The LPA is currently located 2,295 kilometers from northeastern Mindanao. PAGASA expects the LPA to develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours. Once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, it will be named "Leon." Severe Tropical Storm Kristine is affecting Luzon with strong winds and heavy rain. It is expected to move toward the West Philippine Sea and exit the area on Friday.
