Pagasa warns of dangerous Typhoon Pepito as it intensifies and approaches landfall
The Philippine weather bureau, Pagasa, has issued a warning about Typhoon Pepito, which has intensified and is now classified as a very dangerous cyclone. It is moving quickly at 30 kilometers per hour and has maximum sustained winds of 130 kph. Pepito is expected to make landfall this weekend, potentially reaching super typhoon status. Areas at risk include Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, Central Luzon, and Quezon, with warnings of heavy rains, floods, and storm surges. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Ofel has weakened and is located near Batanes. It is expected to make landfall in Taiwan and may exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday afternoon.
