Pakistan Army enforces shoot-at-sight orders as protests escalate in Islamabad
The Pakistan Army has been deployed in Islamabad amid violent protests by supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Six security personnel have been killed, and over 100 injured as clashes erupted while protesters attempted to reach the D-Chowk area. The government issued shoot-at-sight orders to control the situation, stating it would prevent the protests from proceeding, even considering a curfew. Authorities had previously blocked access to the capital, but protesters removed obstacles to advance. The Interior Minister confirmed that talks with Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are ongoing regarding an alternative protest location. Schools in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will remain closed due to the unrest.
