Pakistan coalition government faces internal tensions and dissatisfaction
Pakistan's coalition government, formed in February 2024, is struggling with internal tensions after a year in power. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expanded his cabinet to 30 federal ministers, but this has highlighted the fragile nature of the alliance. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) remains outside the federal cabinet, citing low confidence with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The PPP has expressed dissatisfaction with its exclusion from key decisions and projects, further straining the coalition. Other partners, like the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), are also unhappy with their limited influence and cabinet positions. The coalition faces growing discontent, complicating governance and stability.
