Pakistan cracks down on Imran Khan supporters after deadly clashes in Islamabad
Pakistani security forces launched a crackdown on Imran Khan's supporters late Tuesday, arresting many during a sit-in in Islamabad. This follows violent clashes over the weekend that resulted in six deaths, including four security personnel. Thousands of protesters defied a curfew, breaching barriers in a high-security area. The protests, led by Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi, escalated as police used tear gas and gunfire to disperse crowds. Authorities have detained over 4,000 supporters since Friday. The government maintains that only courts can decide on Khan's release. Mobile and internet services have been suspended in several areas to manage the unrest, which has intensified since Khan's imprisonment over a year ago.
