Pakistan deploys army in Islamabad as PTI protests turn violent
The Pakistani government has deployed the army in Islamabad following violent protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. The Interior Ministry invoked Article 245, allowing military assistance to maintain order and impose curfews if necessary. The decision comes after a tragic incident on Srinagar Highway, where a vehicle reportedly driven by PTI supporters killed four Rangers and injured several others. Over 100 police personnel have also been injured amid ongoing clashes. PTI supporters are protesting to demand the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The government has imposed a security lockdown in the capital, blocking major roads and deploying police and paramilitary forces to manage the situation.
