Pakistan police detain over 4000 Imran Khan supporters before rally
ISLAMABAD: Police in Pakistan have arrested over 4,000 supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan ahead of a planned rally in Islamabad. The arrests include five members of parliament. Khan has been imprisoned for more than a year amid numerous criminal cases. Authorities have sealed off Islamabad with shipping containers and closed major roads to prevent access from PTI strongholds. Mobile and internet services have been suspended in certain areas, affecting communication for Khan's supporters who rely on social media. The crackdown coincides with a visit from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Officials have warned that anyone attempting to reach the sealed-off Red Zone in Islamabad will be arrested.
