Pakistani government criticizes PTI for chaotic protest cancellation in Islamabad
The Pakistani government criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party after it abruptly canceled its protest in Islamabad. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar described the situation as a "colossal failure" and noted that PTI members fled in chaos following a police crackdown. Tarar claimed that PTI had intended to storm Parliament but was dispersed before they could act. He highlighted the disarray among PTI workers and contrasted this protest with previous ones that had establishment support. He also accused PTI of having a hidden agenda during the protests. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that roads would be reopened and normalcy restored. He confirmed that key PTI figures were unaccounted for and emphasized the need for accountability regarding damages caused during the protests.
