Pakistan's climate information engagement remains stagnant despite crises
A new survey by the Reuters Institute shows that public engagement with climate information has not improved over the past three years, despite increasing extreme weather events. Many people still view climate change as a distant threat. In Pakistan, 61% of respondents reported experiencing floods, and 54% faced heatwaves. However, only 40% believe that climate change is currently affecting the country, a decline from 48% in 2023. The survey indicates that media consumption for climate news remains stagnant, with videos being the preferred format. While trust in media remains high, there is a call for more comprehensive coverage of climate issues.
