Pakistan's Green Line Express offers luxury train travel
The Green Line Express is Pakistan's most luxurious train. It runs daily between Karachi and Islamabad and was inaugurated on May 15, 2015. This service is part of the Pakistan Railways and is considered its flagship train. The Green Line takes about 21 hours to travel a distance of 1,521 kilometers (945 miles). It operates along the Karachi–Peshawar Railway Line and has the top priority for passenger services. Passengers on the Green Line can choose from different classes. It features an AC Parlour Class, two parlour cars, five Business coaches, and six AC Standard coaches. There are also four to five economy-class coaches available. The train is equipped with many modern amenities. Passengers enjoy Wi-Fi, onboard entertainment, and complimentary meals. Each cabin has three beds, a TV, and charging facilities for mobile devices. Cleanliness is a priority on the Green Line. The staff maintains the cabins and carriages multiple times during the journey, and there are well-equipped toilets in each carriage. The Green Line Express stops at eight stations along its route. Ticket prices vary by class. The economy class costs PKR 2,200 (about 678 Indian rupees), the berth-economy is PKR 2,300 (around 709 Indian rupees), and the business class fare is PKR 6,650 (approximately 2,050 Indian rupees).
