Pakistan's textile exports grew 9.31% in 2025
Textile exports in Pakistan have shown a modest growth of 9.31% in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. This growth reflects an increase in exports from $11.14 billion last year to $12.18 billion this year. The growth trend was strong early in the fiscal year, with exports rising by 13% in August and peaking at nearly 18% in September. However, February saw a slight increase of only 0.44%, with exports valued at $1.41 billion. Despite the $25 billion production capacity, the textile sector has faced stagnation over the past two years. Industry representatives attribute this to structural issues and are urging the government to expedite the release of pending refund payments to exporters. Specific categories saw mixed results. Ready-made garments and knitwear performed well, with respective value increases of nearly 20% and 17% during this period. Bedwear exports also rose by over 13%. Conversely, yarn exports dropped significantly by about 36%, while raw cotton exports plummeted by 98.44%. Imports have changed as well. Synthetic fiber saw a rise of 4.92%, and imports of raw cotton surged by 228% compared to the previous year. However, overall textile imports increased sharply by 75.48%. In total, exports from July to February grew by 8.42%, reaching $22.07 billion, compared to $20.35 billion during the same period last year.
