Palestinian activist arrested by ICE after university protests
Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist involved in Columbia University protests, was arrested by federal immigration agents on Saturday. His attorney stated that the agents claimed to be acting on a State Department order to revoke his green card. Khalil was taken from his university-owned apartment and has been transferred to an immigration detention facility in New Jersey. His attorney reported that the agents did not provide a clear reason for his detention. This arrest follows increased scrutiny of Columbia University by the Trump administration, which recently cut $400 million in grants to the school, citing its handling of antisemitism on campus.
