Palestinian activist arrested by ICE at Columbia University
Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist involved in Columbia University protests, was arrested by federal immigration agents on Saturday. His attorney stated that the agents claimed to be acting on a State Department order to revoke his green card. Khalil was taken from his university apartment and has been moved to an immigration detention facility in New Jersey. His attorney reported that the agents did not provide a clear reason for his detention. This arrest follows increased scrutiny of Columbia University by the Trump administration, which recently cut $400 million in grants to the school, citing its handling of campus protests related to the Israel-Gaza conflict.
