Pam Bondi named as Trump's new pick for U.S. attorney general
Pam Bondi, former Florida attorney general, was selected by Donald Trump as his new pick for U.S. attorney general after Matt Gaetz withdrew from consideration. Bondi has been a long-time ally of Trump and was previously considered for the role during his first term. Bondi served as Florida's first female attorney general from 2011 to 2019, focusing on human trafficking and challenging federal policies. She has also worked as a lobbyist and was part of Trump's legal team during his first impeachment trial in 2020. If confirmed by the Senate, Bondi is expected to align closely with Trump’s agenda, particularly regarding investigations into political opponents and the handling of cases related to the January 6 Capitol riot.
