Panthers pursue Colts safety Julian Blackmon for defense

The Carolina Panthers are working to strengthen their defense this offseason. On Monday, the Panthers will meet with Julian Blackmon, a former starting safety for the Indianapolis Colts. Blackmon was drafted in 2020 and is known for his skills in both free safety and linebacker roles. However, Blackmon has faced injury challenges throughout his career. He has had significant injuries, including a torn ACL and a torn Achilles, which have affected his time on the field. Currently, Blackmon is projected to receive a three-year contract worth $24 million in free agency. The Panthers have about $13 million in salary cap space available. If he joins the team, he could form a strong partnership with Moehrig in the Panthers' defense.
