Pargaon villagers oppose Purandar airport land acquisition
Villagers in Pargaon have decided to oppose the Purandar International Airport project. The resolution was passed during a meeting on Friday. About 150 villagers attended and supported the decision. The airport project is being managed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). They plan to acquire 2,753 hectares of land across seven villages, including Pargaon. Pargaon is the largest landholder, with over 1,000 hectares involved. Other villages involved are Vanpuri, Udachiwadi, Kumbharvalan, Ekhatpur, Munjavadi, and Khanavdi. The land acquisition process is expected to speed up now that the government has issued a formal notification. The detailed project report for the airport is set to be completed by September 2025. The goal is to have the airport operational by March 2029. The government previously announced on March 7 that land acquisition would begin for this project.
