Paris court sentences Rwandan ex-doctor to 27 years for genocide role
A Paris court has sentenced former Rwandan doctor Eugene Rwamucyo to 27 years in prison for his role in the 1994 genocide. He was found guilty of complicity in genocide and crimes against humanity but acquitted of direct involvement in killings. Rwamucyo, 65, was accused of covering up mass murders and spreading anti-Tutsi propaganda. His trial was the eighth in France related to the genocide, which resulted in the deaths of around 800,000 Tutsi people. Rwamucyo's defense team plans to appeal the verdict. He has denied all charges, claiming he was not involved in any killings and only aimed to address hygiene issues related to the bodies.
