Parma opens new EV charging station at City Hall
Parma, Ohio has recently opened new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at City Hall. These stations are part of a larger project by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) to expand EV infrastructure in the region. Construction on the charging stations began in July 2024 and they went live on February 26, 2025. Parma’s Service Director, Tony Vannello, mentioned that the station was installed in a public parking area for everyone to use. The project received funding from a NOACA grant, totaling about $130,000 for equipment and installation. The charging station features two conventional chargers and one fast charger. The cost for using the conventional chargers is 14 cents per kilowatt hour, which is cheaper than many other locations. The fast charger costs 40 cents per kilowatt hour, which is standard pricing. Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter expressed enthusiasm about the new chargers, noting that they have already attracted EV users each day. He highlighted the collaboration with NOACA and shared hopes for more charging stations in the future. The service director also noted that NOACA plans to offer more grants, indicating that additional chargers could be added in Parma, including at a new golf course clubhouse and event center. The city is looking forward to seeing more EV chargers throughout the region.
