Passengers stranded for hours after woman's suicide
A tragic incident occurred in Thiruvananthapuram when a young woman was hit by a train, leading to major disruptions for rail passengers. The woman, identified as Megha M, 24, from Pathanamthitta, was found dead on the tracks on Monday morning. The police believe it was suicide, citing her struggles with depression. Following the incident, railway authorities imposed traffic controls on the tracks. This caused significant delays for trains coming into Thiruvananthapuram from the Kollam side. Passengers faced long waits as trains were held at several stations, including Chirayinkeezhu, Kazhakkoottam, and Kochuveli. Many commuters, including workers heading to their jobs, were stuck on trains for hours. The Punalur-Kanyakumari Passenger, arriving around 9 a.m., was delayed for half an hour, prompting some passengers to leave the train and seek alternative transport. While some passengers rushed to catch a bus or auto, the Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram Vanchinad Express also faced delays. Eventually, around 10:30 a.m., it arrived at Thiruvananthapuram Central, ending the long wait for passengers.
