Patriots may trade for WR Jakobi Meyers

The New England Patriots face an important decision about their wide receiver position in 2025. Last season, DeMario Douglas struggled in the role, gaining only 621 receiving yards and scoring three touchdowns. The team needs to find a more reliable option to support young quarterback Drake Maye. One possible solution could be Jakobi Meyers. Meyers played for the Patriots from 2019 to 2022 before joining the Las Vegas Raiders. In his first four seasons, he developed into a strong receiver, collecting over 700 yards in each of those years. Recently, a sports analyst suggested that bringing Meyers back to New England could be beneficial. Meyers had a productive season in 2024, recording 1,027 yards in just 15 games. He became the leading receiver for the Raiders after another star player was traded. Although Meyers is ideally a second option on a strong team, he has shown he can step up when needed. Fans and analysts are now questioning if it was a mistake for the Patriots to let him go. However, there is still a chance to bring him back. Meyers could serve as a solid target for Maye while also helping to develop a younger receiver drafted in 2025.
