Paula Moltzan revitalizes ski career at age 30
Paula Moltzan, a skier from Minnesota, has had an unusual journey in ski racing. She recently shared her experiences during an interview. After winning a junior world slalom title in 2015, she struggled on the World Cup circuit and lost her place on the U.S. team. Instead of giving up, Moltzan chose to compete at the college level. She attended the University of Vermont, where she won an NCAA slalom title. This time taught her the value of teamwork and support from fellow athletes. “I think getting asked to leave the team was the best thing that ever happened to me,” she said. In 2018, she rejoined Team USA. Moltzan learned to appreciate her opportunities more. “I did a lot of growing up at college,” she noted. Now at 30, she is grateful for her chance to race in the World Cup again. She enjoys training with skilled skiers every day. Looking back, Moltzan reflected on her teenage mindset. She admitted she felt entitled and expected more from the ski team. “I think I was maybe a little bit insane!” she admitted. Today, she embraces her journey and the lessons learned along the way.
