Pearl Harbor survivor Bob Fernandez dies at 100 in California

Bob Fernandez, a 100-year-old survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack, passed away in Lodi, California, on December 11. He had recently declined in health and missed the 83rd anniversary ceremony due to weakness. Fernandez was a sailor on the USS Curtiss during the December 7, 1941, attack. He witnessed the bombing and later shared his experiences of fear and loss, as the attack killed over 2,300 U.S. servicemen. He is remembered for his kindness and generosity, often helping neighbors and friends. Fernandez is survived by his son, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren. His death leaves 16 known Pearl Harbor survivors, all aged 100 or older.
