Pediatric rehab program helps children awaiting heart transplants
A new pediatric cardiac rehab program at Primary Children's Hospital is helping 4-year-old Sienna Barton, who is waiting for a heart transplant. Sienna, who has been in the hospital since early 2023, is using an artificial heart. The program encourages physical activity through fun exercises tailored to children's interests. Sienna has become more active, enjoying activities like running and dancing, which helps her build strength for her upcoming transplant. Currently, about 15 children are enrolled in the program, which is designed specifically for young patients. It aims to promote lifelong health by encouraging kids with heart conditions to stay active and engaged.
