Pensioner in Derry faces trial for child pornography

A 66-year-old man is set to go to trial in Crown Court. He is facing serious charges related to extreme pornography and indecent images of children. Carey Lyons, who lives in Derry, is accused of 16 separate offenses. These allegations involve activities that reportedly took place between October 24 and 27, 2020. The specific charges include ten counts of possessing indecent images of children. He also faces three counts of having prohibited images of children and three counts of possession of extreme pornography. Lyons appeared in court via video link from custody during a preliminary hearing at Laganside Magistrates Court in Belfast. The case has been moved to the Crown Court for a trial, but no pleas have been entered yet. The trial date has yet to be determined.
