Pensioner wrongly pursued by bailiffs for paid fine

A 76-year-old man, Derek Bird, who once impersonated actor Michael Crawford, claims he is being harassed by bailiffs over a speeding fine he already paid. Bird received several speeding fines for driving over the speed limit. After attending court, he successfully had his £450 fine waived and was only required to pay £56, which he settled in December 2024. However, three months later, Bird is still facing demands from debt collectors. The fine he paid has somehow grown to £366. Bird says the bailiffs continuously pursue him despite him providing proof of payment. He describes the situation as harassment and has reported it to the police. Bird has also expressed concern for how other pensioners might handle similar pressure from bailiffs. He remains defiant and is determined not to be intimidated. Throughout his life, Bird has engaged in various careers, including taking care of elderly people and performing at social events. He hopes to resolve the issue soon and put the ordeal behind him.
