In response to the leaks, Hegseth's chief of staff, Joe Kasper, announced that the Pentagon would investigate unauthorized disclosures of national security information. He stated that anyone found responsible could face criminal prosecution. Musk has been a strong supporter of defense spending cuts. The investigation aims to compile a report for the Secretary of Defense, detailing unauthorized disclosures and suggesting improvements. The probe is expected to begin immediately.
