Person dies in house fire in unincorporated Lombard

A fire in an unincorporated area near Lombard resulted in one death early Wednesday morning. The York Center Fire Department responded to the emergency call at about 6:30 a.m. The fire occurred in the 1300 block of South 3rd Street. Firefighters found one person in the house who was pronounced dead at the scene. The authorities have not released the person's name yet as they are notifying family members. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but officials do not believe there was any suspicious activity linked to the incident. DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick expressed condolences, saying, “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.”
