Peterborough Lido to reopen May 24, 2025

Peterborough Lido, the city's only public swimming pool, is set to reopen on May 24. This announcement comes after plans to potentially close the facility due to budget cuts sparked public outcry. The city council had proposed to shut the lido, which costs around £400,000 a year to maintain. After receiving feedback from the community during a public consultation, the council decided against closing it. Clare Marshall, from the Friends of Peterborough Lido, expressed happiness over the decision, thanking members for their support. The lido has been a popular spot for 88 years and typically opens in April. The council also plans to close the facility for the season on September 7. After that, there will be a special weekend event for dog swimming. The community looks forward to enjoying the pool this summer and engaging in discussions about its future with the council.
