Petrol pump employee killed during robbery in Jamtara
A petrol pump employee was shot and killed during a robbery in Jamtara district. The incident took place on Saturday night along the Govindpur-Sahibganj highway. The victim, Janardan Majhi, was 26 years old and worked at the Mayra petrol pump in Fatehpur. Majhi was on duty at around 8 PM when three armed men on a motorcycle arrived. They demanded cash, and during a struggle, one of the robbers shot Majhi in the abdomen. The attackers fled with a bag of cash before anyone could help. Majhi was first taken to the Fatehpur community health centre and later moved to Jamtara sadar hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police have detained a suspect, Mahendra Mahto, who is related to the victim. Reports suggest Mahendra had threatened Janardan over a dispute and may have been involved in planning the robbery. Jamtara SDPO Manoj Yadav stated that authorities are looking at CCTV footage from the petrol pump to find the robbers. He also mentioned that they have made progress in their investigation and expect to solve the case soon. The exact amount of money taken is still being determined.
