PG&E expands planned power outages to 22,000 customers in California on Election Day

kcra.com November 5, 2024, 09:01 PM UTC

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG&E) has expanded its planned power outages to about 22,000 customers across 17 California counties due to increased wildfire risk. This change affects more customers than the previously announced 15,000.

The outages will begin on Election Day and may impact five polling locations. PG&E will provide backup generators for essential services, but no tabulation centers are expected to be affected.

A red flag warning is in effect for parts of the Sacramento Valley and Bay Area, with wind gusts expected to reach up to 50 mph. Community resource centers have been set up for affected residents.
