Philippine Chief Justice sees 2024 as a year of growth for judiciary

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo announced that 2024 will be a significant year for growth in the Philippine judiciary. He highlighted the support received and the hard work of judicial personnel as key factors in this transformation. The Supreme Court has implemented a Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations, which began in 2022 and aims to enhance the judicial system by 2027. In 2024, the court achieved an 87 percent clearance rate, disposing of 4,294 cases. Gesmundo emphasized that reforms focus on improving processes, ensuring fairness, and leveraging technology. Initiatives include an e-court system and prioritizing the health and welfare of judicial staff.
