Philippine Coast Guard adds 2,000 new recruits to its ranks
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has appointed 2,000 new recruits, consisting of 1,698 men and 302 women. They will be deployed to various districts before starting their official training. The oath-taking ceremony was led by PCG chief Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan. With these new recruits, the PCG's workforce now totals approximately 34,000 personnel. The agency recently welcomed back its multirole response vessel, BRP Gabriela Silang, after a visit to Indonesia. PCG plans to enhance cooperation with Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. Danish Foreign Affairs Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen visited the PCG headquarters to discuss potential collaborations, including capacity building programs related to maritime security.
