Philippine police deny political motives in complaints against Vice President Duterte

The Philippine National Police (PNP) stated that complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte are not politically motivated. PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil emphasized that the police are committed to enforcing the law impartially, regardless of an individual's status. Marbil highlighted the importance of filing cases to maintain public trust in law enforcement. He noted that failing to act could create perceptions of police fear and bias, particularly following criticisms of past anti-drug campaigns. Last week, the Quezon City Police District filed a direct assault complaint against Duterte and her security chief, Col. Raymund Lachica. The complaint relates to an incident involving alleged physical assault during a medical transfer on November 23.
