The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group reported an 18% rise in voyeurism cases in 2024, increasing from 294 in 2023 to 347. This crime involves taking unauthorized photos or videos of individuals in private situations. Online libel cases also increased by 3.9%, from 1,403 in 2023 to 1,458 in 2024. The rise is linked to more social media use and easier access to the internet, which facilitates the spread of harmful content. Despite these increases, overall cybercrime rates have decreased. The PNP ACG encourages victims of online abuse to report incidents for prompt action.
