Philippines allocates P2.2 billion for typhoon relief efforts
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Philippines has set aside P2.2 billion in funds and supplies for typhoon relief. This includes 1.39 million family food packs, with over 92,000 already sent to the Cagayan Valley region. DSWD Director Michael Cristopher Mathay confirmed the government's readiness during a meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. He stated that production of food packs is ongoing and uninterrupted to support affected communities. As Typhoon Nika has exited the area, another storm, Typhoon Ofel, is expected to make landfall on November 14. A tropical storm named Man-yi may also enter the Philippine area of responsibility on the same day.
