Philippines evacuates thousands as Typhoon Toraji approaches northern region

Thousands of people in the northern Philippines are being forcibly evacuated from 2,500 villages as Typhoon Toraji approaches. This region has already suffered from severe flooding and landslides caused by three storms in the past month. Typhoon Toraji, with winds up to 130 kilometers per hour, is expected to move northwest across Luzon. Authorities warn that the rain-soaked terrain is at high risk for flash floods and landslides. The recent storms have resulted in over 160 deaths and affected more than 9 million people. The Philippines is receiving aid from Southeast Asian nations and the United States to support recovery efforts.
