Philippines expects zero to one cyclone in April
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has announced that the country can expect zero to one tropical cyclone in April. This information was shared by Pagasa spokesperson Ana Liza Solis during a press conference on March 21, 2025. Solis noted that between eight to fourteen tropical cyclones are likely to occur from April to September. This forecast suggests a "below average" total of 16 to 19 typhoons for the year, influenced by the ongoing La Niña conditions. However, conditions are shifting towards an ENSO neutral state. In addition to the cyclone forecast, Pagasa weather specialist Joey Figuracion reported that the northeast monsoon, known as "amihan," is affecting Luzon. This monsoon is expected to bring rain to various parts of the region, especially the eastern areas. There is also a forecast for high temperatures in April. Northern Luzon is expected to experience temperatures as high as 39.8°C, while lowland Luzon could reach 39°C.
