Philippines faces new storm as recovery from Typhoon Usagi begins
Typhoon Usagi left the Philippines early Friday, moving towards Taiwan, while a new storm, Severe Tropical Storm Man-yi, is approaching the central Philippines. This follows a series of storms that have caused significant damage and loss of life. Rescue efforts continue in northern Luzon, where many residents were stranded after flash floods. At least 159 people have died in recent disasters, and the UN has requested nearly $33 million in aid for affected areas. The recent storms have damaged over 207,000 homes and displaced 700,000 people. Many families lack basic necessities, and extensive farmland destruction is expected to worsen food supply issues.
